Tomorrow we are headed to California for our yearly reunion with three other couples. We can't wait! Diego is the only child so he is going to LOVE the attention! Jen and Corey are also expecting a baby in November so it will be fun to have those kids the same age in future years.
I will have lots of pictures to post when we return next weekend!

Happy Friday!
I thought I'd just share some pictures from the week. We've had a good week and are looking forward to the weekend. My mom is flying in tomorrow (from Seattle) so we're excited to have her here. We will find out if Diego will be a big brother to a BOY or GIRL on Tuesday so look out for the big news!

This was our Friday morning playgroup. Diego was not thrilled to have Caitlin sit on his lap :) They were so cute together and tried to share the chair as well as they could.

He has learned how to say "afuera" (outside) so every morning he asks to go "afuera." This week he decided to have a seat in the water and splash around in his jammies.

Those eyes!!

Papi's weekend
We had a super weekend. On Saturday we went to swim class which as always, was a 1/2 hour of thrills for Diego. We came home for lunch and nap time and in the afternoon we headed to Piedmont Park where we hung out for a couple of hours. We've always gone there for walks in the stroller, but this time we let Diego roam free and he was so happy. We saw lots of doggies and just lots of people which always keeps Diego entertained. It was HOT so mami was worn out, but we had a lot of fun.
On Sunday we had Ricardo's favorite breakfast - apple puffed pancakes and we enjoyed a quite morning at home. It was really special to celebrate Ricardo's 2nd Father's Day and to recount all the wonderful memories of the year. We went to church and once again, home for nap time. We then packed up all of our goodies and headed out for a BBQ. We found a great park up north a little bit that had a huge playground right next to our little BBQ pavilion so Diego was as happy as can be. Ricardo and I took turns chasing him down the path to the playground and playing with him on all the toys. Just as he nears any sort of slope in the ground, he looks up at us, reaches out his hand and says "Mamo" which is his way of saying "mano" (hand). He also learned how to say his name last week. If we say "Como te llamas" (what's your name), he points at his chest and says "Digo." It's SO cute!

A very Proud Papi with his lil' munchkin!

He was watching Papi do head-stands here!

We set the self-timer on the camera and came running down the hill with Diego. We had never swung him like this before, and once we did it, he wouldn't let us stop. He would say "Mas, mas, mas" over and over. (If you click on the picture, you can see just how big the grin is on Diego's face)

I sure enjoyed my food at the BBQ - I started with corn...

...then moved on to asparagus (notice all the corn I ate off the cob!)...

...and finished off with some delicious watermelon.

He kept running up the slide and saying "Up, up, up!"

This was Ricardo's Father's Day gift. It is a yearly tradition we started last year and is a fun way to remember all the fun events of the past year. Diego loved hearing the story of each picture!

Our little book-worm
Diego has always loved having books read to him, but he has been loving it even more these days! I can't even count how many times I read to him throughout the day. I loved it when I found him in his room, laying on has back, reading to himself!

He almost made it all the way in!

BBQ fun!
We had a great weekend! Today we packed up a bunch of things from the kitchen, went to the grocery store for some goodies and headed out for a BBQ. We strolled along a small lake for awhile and then settled in to the little "ranchito." Diego had an absolute blast. I wasn't sure we would be able to keep him close to us, but he did so well. He had never gotten so dirty in his life and he loved the freedom. He picked up ants, rocks, dirt, twigs, leaves, nut shells, bottle caps, pine cones and anything he could get his hand on. Whenever he would find something new, he would bring it to me for approval to play with it. Ricardo and I had a whole collection of treasures that he carefully brought to us. He also played with ice for the first time and learned to say “hielo.” We cooked a delicious meal of meat (for Ricardo), corn, asparagus and grilled green onions. One of Ricardo’s favorite things to do is have BBQ’s, but since we don’t have one at the apartment this was the perfect opportunity to have a wonderful family outing.

We're back!
Unfortunately, the camera has not made it out with us much lately, but I will make sure that changes!
Here are a few fun pics: The first two are from yesterday when we went out to lunch with May and Addie. Diego learned how to say "Addie" and has been asking for her today!
The bottom ones are from a finger-painting project we had. Diego quickly discovered that the paint looked much better on his own body than on the paper! His masterpiece was beautiful until he walked all over it!

Falling Behind!
Dear Blog-readers!
I'm sorry it's been awhile since I've posted. We're doing great! Diego is a blast, as always. He sometimes points at my belly and says "Bebe," but only after seeing me do it. It will be fun to watch him slowly understand what all of this really means! I am feeling great with the pregnancy and am starting to get a belly which is fun! Once it is more pronounced I will post some pictures.
Ricardo and I are impressed daily with the expansion of Diego's vocabulary. Today I tried to write down all the words he says and came up with about 30 spanish words and 20 english words.
We are looking forward to a relaxed summer. Diego will begin music classes next week and I will begin a summer bible study with other moms of young children this week. It is a wonderful time of fellowship for the moms and the little ones have a blast playing together. We have a trip to California planned at the end of June and that will be our only big trip of the summer.
I just wanted to check in real quick - I will post more tomorrow or Wednesday with pictures!
