The picture below is totally cute, but also a little sad.  I have told Ricardo many times that Lucia would either want to nurse until she's 3 or one day just decide she was DONE.  Well, the day has come when she decided she was DONE.  It was so crazy.   She went from nursing 4-6 times a day (including 1-2 night time feedings) to NONE.  On Friday she decided she was done nursing.  I tried to nurse her in the morning and she screamed and cried at me and wiggled out of my arms.  I thought she just must not be in the mood so I tried again in the afternoon and the same thing.  There was absolutely no getting her to nurse.  Today is Tuesday and she shakes her head "no" if I say "quieres leche?" I have been pumping and she goes crazy whenever she sees the bottle and cries until I get it in her mouth, but even after she guzzles whatever's in the bottle, she won't even consider nursing.  

I had been doing this in hopes that this was just a nursing strike and we'd be back to normal soon, but that doesn't seem to be the case so I think she has officially self-weaned.  The upside is that she is sleeping through the night now, but I'd rather wake up twice in the night than have my caboose self-wean at 14 months!  

So this evening I asked Diego if he wanted to give her the bottle (a whopping 2.5 ounces) and he was sooo excited.  As he was feeding her he said "Ah, I love this!"

This boy has some serious culinary creations around here. Yesterday at lunch he made a "taco" with ham, celery w/peanut butter and raisins and ak mak cracker and cheese....oh and cucumber!

At dinner he combined his lentil pasta, BBQ chicken, cabbage salad and kale sprouts in a "cake" and ate it. Hey, the boy eats a great variety of healthy foods so whatever floats his boat :)
Oh and the stickers?  Hmm, not sure, but they were on his face for all of dinner and came off for bedtime :)

My mom is here for a habitat conference this week. She took these pics of the kids and they crack me up!!

We had a lunch/ play date on Thursday and lucia played around on this porch for the longest time. Kay and I were able to enjoy ourselves while the boys played outside and lucia kept very busy exploring on the porch!

As soon as we pulled lucia out of her bath yesterday, marco asked to take a picture of the three of us. Cuteness!

Today Alexia competed in the district spelling bee!!! What a blessing for her to be a part of this! She did awesome and made it to the 8th round (backwards from about 25). She was so calm and cool about it. Afterwards we went on a lunch date to mellow mushroom :)

Little miss and I have been so sick this week :(
We're both on day 3 of fever and General ickiness. I'm guessing it's the flu again.

Today was a sunny day on SSI. We enjoyed time at the beach, in the village and the big kids did lots of bike riding around our house.

Yesterday we arrived to St Simons Island!! It's gorgeous!

Today we had temps in the 70s so we went for an afternoon walk! It was delightful. We came home and had dinner on the front porch afterwards.

We stopped for a construction site show and one of the workers came over and opened the bed of his truck so the kids could sit down. They were thrilled!
