Finally...!

My computer hasn't been letting me upload pictures from my camera. I have more to share, but it would only upload a few (something about not enough disk space...arrrrgghhh!) I've been wanting to write a post, but couldn't do so without sharing pictures...!

Last Saturday we went to an Easter egg hunt and had a blast. A very gracious family from church hosted all of the families of preschoolers so there was quite a crowd and most of Diego's buddies were there so he was thrilled. He really got into the egg-hunting and collected quite a bit of goodies.
On Sunday we attended a fabulous Easter service at church which really stirred us. What a glorious truth - Christ is risen!

After church we went out to lunch as a family and then home for nap time. In the evening we went to the Halsey's home for dinner and had a great time. I am very sad that I didn't take my camera because we missed so many wonderful photo ops. They have a 6-yr old boy, a 5-yr old girl and a 2-month old girl. Diego had a blast with the big kids and Ricardo and I really enjoyed our time with the grown ups. We went to their house last Easter also so we have started a very special tradition!

Alexia had her 4-month check up on Monday. She is doing wonderfully and weighs 14lbs 11oz (50th%). The shots were indescribable. Thankfully Papi was there for with us because she completely lost it. Poor baby. But once she calmed down, she did ok for the rest of the day. Nothing like the 4-hour crying spell we endured after the last shots. Diego had an Easter lunch and egg hunt at preschool so we went to that and it was so cute to see him with all of his buddies at school. Hopefully I can upload those pictures soon because we snapped some cute ones. We were so proud to see how well he follows directions and does everything his teachers say.

Roll up those sleeves and get movin'!

Discovering all the treats inside the eggs with Addie

Our pediatrician keeps telling us that the honeymoon will end and Diego will become very jealous of Alexia. We're sure there will be tough times of sibling rivalry, but so far, he still really adores her and is always checking on her...

...he even shars his favorite chair with her!
A fun playdate at Anjuli's house last week

While Diego was determined to collect every ball in the entire house (no joke!), the girls were lovin' on Alexia

Toddler Talk

Diego’s grandpa in El Salvador LOVES to hear stories about him and loves to read quotes from Diego, so this is dedicated to him!
I haven't added any extra words to his quotes in spanish - these are exactly his words:

Yesterday was a cloudy day after several days of clear, blue skies. This is what Diego said when we got in the car:
Diego: "No nubes blancas, no nubes blancas. Nubes azules adonde estan?" ("No white clouds, no white clouds. Blue clouds, where are you?"

Me: "Estan atras de las nubes blancas." ("They're behind the white clouds")

Diego: "No veo" ("I don't see")
-------------------------------------------

Diego: "Papa se va a la oficina. Diego se queda con mami y Isa" ("Papa is going to the office. Diego is staying with Mami and Alexia)
-----------------------------------------------------
Diego: "Pescado contento como Diego" ("Fish happy like Diego")
------------------------------------------------------

Diego: "Que grande que es Diego" ("How big Diego is")
-----------------------------------------------------------

Me: "Tienes mucho pee-pee en el panal?" ("Do you have a lot of pee-pee in your diaper?)

Diego: "No mucho pee-pee en panal, solo un poquito" ("Not a lot, just a little bit")

------------------------------------------------------
Diego loves to our UPS man, Zack. Whenever we see a UPS truck he says it's Zack's truck. Today we saw a UPS truck in a different neighborhood.
Diego: "Camion de Zack!.........(pause)............adonde esta Zack?............era otro hombre"

("Zack's truck!........where's Zack?............it was another man"
--------------------------------------------

Diego was carrying a box of heavy things.
Diego: "Como pesa....que fuerte que es Diego!" ("It's heavy....Diego is so strong")
------------------------------------------------
And a follow-up to that first one. Today we got back in the car and he said, “All done nubes blancas……nubes azules!!” (“all done white clouds……blue clouds!”

Dresses and smiles

Ricardo was out of town again all of last week so we were thrilled to have him come home on Friday. When he arrived at 11:00pm, he found a bed full of bodies. I was in the middle and each monkey was on either side of me. Diego had had a terrible time falling asleep so I brought him to bed with me and Alexia had just woken up to eat (again!) Diego was really excited to see Papi on Saturday morning and was in a great mood all day, hanging out with his Papi. We had a great weekend as a family and are excited that Papi doesn't have to travel this week!

I love dresses for little girls, but Alexia has never worn a dress outside of the house. The only time I have ever put a dress on her was for our family Christmas picture. Now that the weather is warming up, I can't wait to dress her up more. Here she is, all dressed up before leaving for church this morning.

Bath time now brings smiles! It took almost four months for this little girl to enjoy baths, but now she loves them. Ok, love might be an over-statement for now, but she is definitely enjoying them more and more every day.

Now we're really strollin'!

Well, we returned the stroller you saw in a previous post because it weighed 46 pounds and was HUGE. After an exhaustive amount of research and testing, we opted for the Phil and Ted's stroller. I LOVE IT! We took it for it's first spin today and the kids did great. We were out for almost an hour and Alexia was as happy as can be. It only weighs 25 pounds and folds up very nicely. Can't write much about it because Alexia is fussing and Diego is having dinner - more to come...!

Silly Boy

Yesterday Diego found a pair of pajamas in his drawer from when he was 12-months old. They are covered in balls so he insisted on wearing them. As you will see, they were very tight and did not provide much coverage for his chubs. When I realized that all the hairs on his body were sticking up (and he has a hairy body!) and he had goose-bumps, I told him we had to put pants and a long-sleeved shirt on. Oh boy, was he MAD! He threw his worst temper tantrum to date. He was crying so hard he was gasping for air. After a complete meltdown, I was able to get a long-sleeved shirt on under the t-shirt and let him run around in the shorts. He proudly put the shorts and shirt away for bed time, but the first word out of his mouth this morning was "shorts!" The shorts and shirt did not leave his hands until he got out of the car for school. He even put them on his tray of his high chair to have breakfast. And right now, he is tucked away in his crib, having a nap, wearing his beloved "shorts y camisa de pelotas"

Papi's home!

We stayed in most of the weekend, trying to get ourselves back to health. Ricardo returned from London on Thursday and was sick with the same bug that Diego passed on to Alexia and I. By Thursday morning, the girls were feeling just as bad as Diego. Diego watched more videos last week than he has in his entire life. It was tough taking care of two sick kids, while being sick myself!

I was soooo happy to see Ricardo walk through the door on Thursday afternoon, as was Diego. As soon as Ricardo came inside, Diego said "Gordon! Gordon!" When Ricardo was packing, Diego had put a picture of Gordon the train into his suitcase and left it there. Well, Gordon traveled all the way to London and back and Diego was just as happy to see Gordon as he was to see Papi. We couldn't believe that was the first thing that came to his mind when he saw the suitcase - what a memory!

We've been excited to see how much Diego's vocabulary is expanding. He comes up with new things everyday. This morning he was eating some crackers and wanted more and said "Un poquito mas" ("a little bit more") (It sounds much cuter in Spanish than in English)

Happy to have Papi home!

Diego loved setting the self-timer and taking a ton of family shots

"Diego's turn!"

"Papi's turn!"

"Diego's turn!"

Sitting up for a few seconds before toppling over!
