Here we are!

We've been busy, busy! Last Saturday was our 7th anniversary (!) so we had a photographer come take pictures of the family and it was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, I can't post them here because I don't have access to copy&paste them. Ricardo made cheese fondue from scratch for dinner and it was fabulous. On Sunday our church had it's Christmas celebration service which was spectacular! It told the story of Jesus through song, dance and video and was a really special time. Alexia SCREAMED through "Silent Night" when the whole sanctuary was only lit by candles and the singing was quiet. It just reminded everybody (because everybody heard her) that baby Jesus was a crying baby too.

Diego had a Christmas lunch at school on Monday and it was so much fun to see him in his element there. Baby Alexia was a hit with his classmates so I had to put her up on the counter so their sticky little fingers wouldn't touch her.

Diego spends a lot of his days lining up and counting his toys. I'm trying to upload a video of it so hopefully it will be up soon.

Alexia seems to have colic and has been having a really hard time in the evenings and doesn't sleep well at night - we're praying it doesn't last for too long. She is sound asleep in her swing right now so it's time for my morning coffee!

Here are some pictures from the week:

Catching Up

I’ve been meaning to sit down to write a post (instead of only posting pictures), but it is not often that I don’t have a child in arms lately. Diego is at “school” right now and Alexia is asleep so I have a few minutes to do a post!

The past few weeks have been wonderful. We went to church for the first time when Alexia was just 3 weeks old (we waited until Week 7 with Diego!) and it went great. She slept through most of the service and I just had to sneak out with her during the last 10 minutes. We have a new family room at our church so I was able to feed her and continue watching/hearing the service which was really nice. We went again this past Sunday and Alexia and I spent most of the service in the family room.

Alexia is doing fabulous. She eats like there’ll never be another meal in her life and sleeps as if she doesn’t want to miss a thing (as in, not a whole lot!) Yesterday she had a 4+ hour awake period and those usually end in inconsolable tears. She gets overtired and has a hard time settling down. She is becoming much more alert and can track things with her eyes, which is a great milestone. She’s not very fond of tummy time, but Diego makes sure we do it every day by running into his room, lying on his belly and saying “Tummy Time!”

Diego is a wonder. He is talking so much these days and continues to amaze us with all he does. Yesterday he walked out onto the terrace and said “Como hace frio!,” which translates to “How cold it is!” He is talking in toddler sentences and everyday adds new words to his vocabulary. He loves to label things as “grande” (big) and “chiquito” (small) and by colors. He is learning to count and can count to ten in English, but usually says “1,2,3,4,5,6,9,6,7,8,9,10” – so cute! He absolutely loves reading books and has a long attention span to sit down and listen to stories. Whenever I nurse Alexia (which is often!), Diego and I read books and he loves it. He has been allowed to watch some videos the past couple of weeks and he can’t believe what he’s been missing out on. I let him watch one 30-minute video every few days and he really enjoys it. He asks for popcorn every time I turn the TV on, but we save that for special family movie times.

The weather has been gorgeous this week so we’ve been able to go for walks in the afternoons. Diego rides in the stroller and I carry Alexia in the Baby Bjorn and it feels so good to get outside!

Life with two children is wonderful. It’s not always easy to get through entire days on little sleep and no nap, but the Lord is providing me with energy, patience and enthusiasm!

Sweet Brother

Alexia was lying on her changing table this morning and Diego said "Alexia uppy." He ran over to his chair and asked to hold her. This is what followed:

He was as happy as can be with his baby sister in his arms and she was very peaceful. When I picked her up, he said "Mas Alexia" (more Alexia).

Diego found his halloween costume in the closet and was thrilled to run around as a lil' horsey again
Grammie has introduced Diego to the wonderful world of Legos and he LOVES them. Grammie and him have already spent hours sitting on the floor assembling the legos.
